Profile

My interest in nutrition started 28 years ago when my premature twins, were diagnosed at 3 months with lactose, and later gluten and egg intolerances.  I then joined the Allergies and Intolerances Society, then in its infancy, and  learnt how to circumnavigate and substitute these foods.

I have had numerous health challenges and after looking for years for therapists who could help me, I gave up, devised a nutritional programme for myself using my own food philosophy, and life changed for the better!

In 2005 I obtained a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Nutrition from the International Academy of Nutrition in Australia (IAN), which consolidated my passion for nutrition.
My specialities are Food Allergies & Intolerances, especially Gluten Intolerance (Coeliac Disease), Hypoglycaemia, Fibromyalgia, Diabetes and Arthritis. My 20 years school teaching experience has enabled me to add Learning Difficulties (ADD, AD(H)D) in children to my list of specialities. Individualised Nutritional programmes are worked out with the help of the client for over 70 disease conditions. These programmes help to prevent, alleviate or improve these conditions.

I have been the guest speaker at numerous functions. I have contributed articles to the print media/or helped journalists with information for their own articles. I have recently been asked to participate in a radio programme but alas time was to short for me to prepare! Talk about the last minute invite!

I have been married to Andrew, an attorney and avid trout fisherman, for 31 years and have four grown sons, three dogs and call Ballito, on the North Coast of Kwa Zulu Natal, home.  My interests are diverse, from catering, (I read recipe books like novels and have a huge collection!) and photography, to training as a Reiki Master. I love poetry, dancing, writing, music, philosophy and meditate daily.

My motto is: “Be The Best You Can Be in all walks of life, and I subscribe to the five Reiki Principles which are:

Just for today do not worry!
We need to surrender our worries to God

Just for today do not anger!
Let go of anger as it destroys our inner harmony

Honour your parents and elders!
Be thankful to those who provide for and teach us

Earn your living honestly!
This helps us to be united with one’s true purpose

Show gratitude to every living thing!
We are all living creatures. The way we treat others is the way we want ourselves to be treated.
We are reflections of the Universal Light
